- Sinnis ‘The Heist’ 125 – non stop problems
Well having owned my brand new heist 125 for around a month it seems that there really is some technical problems that need to be worked out to give this bike the cred to match the look.
Firstly I have found this bike takes an awfully long time to warm up and riders that are not patient enough to leave it sitting on the drive for half an hour ticking over need to be prepared for numerous stall and starting problems, that is initially after the ten minutes it often takes to start the thing.
So anyway, last night the bike decided to stall continuously and have difficulty starting leaving me sitting in the middle of the countryside getting more and more frustrated. Then we had complete power failure – no lights, no engine, no fun. I decided to push the thing to the nearest town (this is one heavy bike) finally got the recovery guys out today to be left in complete shock!
the mechanic tested all of the electrics and could not find a fault, well the fact that nothing works on it is a sure sign.
He removes the battery cover to info me that the battery has no tube to drain any excess fluid and has cooked inside the box leaving the battery and the chrome housing in a mess of corroded crap. Not only was it missing the much needed tube, there wasn’t even a hole or vent in the box to allow the natural process of the battery to drain if it spits.
The front wheel is making a horrendous grinding noise and the back wheel locked up twice now almost throwing me off the bike. The clutch is temperamental to say the least and anytime you hit a small bump or pothole you can’t help but wonder if your wheels are gonna hold out and I only weigh ten stone.
The bike is now at a repair shop who have confirmed that it has been assembled by ‘novices’ and is not safe to ride. And this bike is 3 weeks old. I’m so frustrated as it looks the business, I just hope once it’s back I can have something good to say about it but right now I’m to bitter. I genuinely hope no one else encounters these problems as at 2 and a half grand it shouldn’t have cheap components.
Of course I will update you all when its back as I’m genuinely gutted to say the least, it’s a proper head turner.

Hope it gets sorted, with any bike an awful lot depends on the dealer doing pdi/assembly out of crate etc. Battery was an ordinary lead acid and not a li ion one?
I’m *pretty* sure that Sinnis bikes come to the dealers flat-packed in boxes, and the dealers themselves are the ones who assemble them, so I would guess that if it’s problems with how it’s put together then you should take it up with the dealer who sold it to you. Not common to see Sinnis bikes with so many problems and I’m sure if you rang up the dealers and asked for an explanation they’d pay for repairs ( as the rightly should)
my bike is from a dealer in manchester, I also have five pals that now have a Sinnis from the same dealer, no problems like yours, sorry you having a bad one let us know how you get on.
I have had 7 mts and 4000 miles ( I am on her day and nigth )
